DPS Tenant Deposit Scheme – Members Discounted Service

At the home of deposit protection, we’ve got you covered!

We provide two types of deposit protection for tenancies in England and Wales:

Custodial – A free service where we hold the deposit for the duration of the tenancy.

Insured – Where you hold the deposit and pay us a fee to protect it.

Most of our customers use our free Custodial service, which is the one we’d recommend. In this scheme, we hold the tenant’s deposit throughout the period of the tenancy and administer the repayment when they leave.

Our Insured scheme is a little different – the agent/landlord will retain the tenant’s deposit for the duration of the tenancy and pay us a small fee to protect it. They also manage the deposit repayment

Once you’ve chosen your scheme, this is what you need to do:

If you’re a landlord/agent who’s taken a deposit for a tenancy, you need to protect it by law in a government authorised scheme. This only applies to an Assured Shorthold Tenancy (AST) meaning licence agreements, live in landlords and rents over £100,000.00 per year do not apply.
