I have a single mother tenant, on benefits, with a single child and they have lived in the property for several years. The AST is due to end and I have issued a form 6a for the end of May 2020. WIht the law preventing eviction for 3 montths due to covid 19, what are my options to get possession of my property with minimal finacial loss, eg loss of rental incoome etc? Also am I correct in thinking I shoould be taking rent after the end of the noticee period?
You are entitled to rent for all the period the tenant is in your property. I t is important you advise your tenant to keep paying the rent. Should the tenant want to be housed by the council, she ideally should not have rent arrears. The council could deem her as intentional homeless under the Act.
